92 September 2005 XMP Specification Embedding XMP Metadata in Application Files TIFF 5 TIFF In TIFF files, an entry in the Image File Directory (IFD) points to the XMP Packet. The XMP must be encoded as UTF-8. The IFD entry has a Tag value of 700 (decimal), as shown here: Reference TIFF 6.0 Specification: http://partners.adobe.com/asn/developer/pdfs/tn/TIFF6.pdf Byte offset Field value Field name Comments 0, 1 700 TAG Tag that identifies the field (decimal value). 2, 3 1 Field type The field type is BYTE, which is represented as a value of 1. 4–7 Count The total byte count of the XMP Packet. 8–11 Value or Offset The byte offset of the XMP Packet.
